The quality of tone, the excellence of touch and the lasting durability are the prime factors of a grand piano. We as experienced piano manufacturers go beyond this slightly puritanical approach and are of the opinion that piano-playing should always be an experience for all the senses. This has prompted Schimmel to produce the Schimmel Art Collection in cooperation with well-known artists and has produced individual works of art which have opened up completely innovative design dimensions. The grand piano designed by Otmar Alt for example is cheerful, imaginative and colourful. It was the vision of the design icon Professor Luigi Colani to free the grand piano from its almost unchanged form for over more than 150 years. A further representative of this symbiosis of artistic design and piano tone is the acrylic glass grand piano created by Nikolaus Wilhelm Schimmel – an instrument of individual fascination and the star on many platforms around the world.
